Investment casting is one of the centuries-old metal manufacturing process, which can date back 5,000 years. Molten metal is poured into an consumable mold formed by refractory ceramic material with a wax pattern involved. The wax is melted out and the molten metal will solidify inside the ceramic mold, and then the metal casting parts hatch out. That’s why Investment casting is often referred to as "lost-wax casting".

Investment Casting

Sand casting remains one of the most cost-effective and high-efficiency metal casting processes, in which sand is employed as the mould material to create custom designs and complex metal parts. The sand molds themselves are expendable after production, and sand mould casting process works with nearly any metal alloy to produce a wide variety of custom parts with complex geometries. Sand casting produces parts ranging from very small weight (less than a pound) to very big tons.

Sand Casting

Die casting is the process of producing large quantity of Intricate and geometrically complex parts with unique designs through the use of a reusable mould created to the specific design of mass produced components. The metal for die casting, typically a non-ferrous alloy such as aluminum or zinc, is melted in the furnace. In essence, die casting process works by pouring or injecting molten metal under high pressure into a mould cavity. The castings that are manufactured in die casting process can vary greatly in weight and size, ranging from a couple grams to hundred kilogram.

Die Casting

Shell Mould Casting is a typical metal casting process which similar to sand casting. The shell casting mold is a thin-wall hardened shell created by applying a sand-resin mixed material around a pattern which is made from a metal piece in the shape of the desired geometry. The pattern is reused to form multiple shell moulds. A reusable pattern allows for higher production rates, while the disposable moulds enable complex geometries to be cast.

The lost foam casting process starts with a polystyrene foam as the mold material which can be carved, machined from a foam block, or created using a process similar to injection molding. A completed polystyrene foam mold is then coated with a ceramic refractory to support the foam’s external form in which the lost foam mold sits. The foam in the casting process is evaporated as molten iron is poured into the flask, after then the castings precisely duplicate all of the features of the lost foam pattern.
